You are your own Safety Manager

11 09 2008

Do you agree that you are responsible for your own safety ?

Statistic shown that the accident is involving the human factor as the main causes. Most causes of motor vehicle accidents are completely avoidable. For example, a large number of car accidents every year were caused by driving drunk, car accident statistics show that many car accidents (81%) were at least partially caused by the driver talking with other passengers in the car. It is interesting to know that the aviation accident was caused mostly by pilot error, despite of availability the advanced aviation technology.

Industrial accidents like fire, explosion etc is indirectly related to the human factor in the form of poor maintenance, poor management and some negligance action of the employees. Explosion in Bopal, India 1984 was the obvious disaster we should never forget. And may be we found some accident in our working place, resulting minor injury until the fatalities.

If we are aware that all of the above accident were caused by human factor, and of course avoidable, then we should agree that You are your own safety manager. So, from now on, start thingking safety, and do it safely, because you are your own safety manager.

Any other idea ?
